National Museum is located in the Istiqlal Square "Merdeka" in the center of Jakarta and is the first archaeological and historical museum in Jakarta. The National Museum displays Indonesian history through all stages of Indonesia. The National Museum offers research on human genetics and human history. The National Museum contains many inscriptions and statues that discovered in all parts of the Indonesian archipelago since the first century AD and displays many textiles and clothing produced during the past years in various islands. The National Museum on the top floor hosts many of the gold and silver artefacts that were owned by sultans in the archipelago. The National Museum also has traces of prehistoric Indonesia, archaeology, ethnography, numismatics, geography and historical relics. The visit to the National Museum is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the history and effects of the country over the past ages.
